About The Silicon Valley

The Silicon Valley has an established reputation for being an area of innovation, technology, and creativity. Along with its storied history as an Internet start-up mecca, the region boasts year-round warm temperatures and close proximity to San Francisco's cultural attractions, ocean view parks, and sports teams.

The region is headquarters to several Fortune 500 companies including Yahoo!, NetApp, Ariba, and Advanced Micro Devices. Silicon Valley is also home to several aerospace companies including Lockheed Martin and Northrup Grumman. Apple and Nokia also have a significant presence here.

Since 2009, Sunnyvale's downtown has gone through a development phase that's brought additional office, store, and apartment space to the area. The region was also ranked as a Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists.

Located just 45 minutes from San Francisco Bay, and 25 miles from the Pacific Ocean, Sunnyvale provides many opportunities to enjoy the culture and diversity of the big city. Local Sunnyvale attractions include the Sunnyvale Heritage Park Museum, Baylands Park, and Golfland USA.

Sunnyvale and the Silicon Valley have a Mediterranean climate, with mild, moist winters and comfortably warm summers. The average temperature ranges from 71 degrees in July to 53 degrees in January.
