The 3D Modeling for Games Certificate is offered for those students who wish to develop skills to specialize in Game Modeling or to enable a career change. The program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive overview of the skills needed to work as a 3D Modeler with special emphasis on the areas that differentiate game modeling from other modeling disciplines. The real time nature of model rendering in games places a high demand on efficiency that is not encountered in other programs that offer 3D modeling.
Graduates of the 3D Modeling for Games Certificate program will be able to use a variety of advanced 3D modeling tools and techniques to create high quality models, both for characters and for environment/props. In particular, students will be able to generate realistic 3D models and also models optimized to meet strict polygon budgets for real time rendering in game applications. The 3D Modeling for Games Certificate provides students with skills needed to seek positions such as 3D artist, character artist, world builder, entry-level animator or lighting artist.
The mission of the 3D Modeling for Games Certificate program reinforces that of The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, through its emphasis on high level training in skills with real world demand. Students with this Certificate will possess a body of knowledge that will empower them in the competitive job market and also prepare them for future academic endeavors if they choose.
