Katie White recently graduated from The Art Institute of California—Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design. As valedictorian for the Summer 2011 class, Katie demonstrated both a talent for interior design and scholastic achievement.
Here is what she had to say about why she chose to pursue Interior Design: “I love that Interior Design is an art form that we live in. Successful interior design can change the way a space feels and can bring positive feelings from those who experience it. I also like that it is a combination of science and art; for a design to work, it must be functional as well as beautiful.”
When asked how her education helped her pursue Interior Design, Katie noted, “I was lucky to have great instructors who are design professionals themselves, so they could pass along their knowledge and experience.”
“I also feel that the curriculum contained many necessary courses that have prepared me for a variety of work now,” she added. “The software classes especially were important, as this is an area that is constantly advancing. The studio classes were great, because they replicated real design projects to work from start to finish.”
