[Jacksonville, FL – January 18, 2012] – The deadline for registering to enter The Art Institutes Best Teen Chef Competition for high school seniors or The Art Institutes Culinary Scholarship Competition for high school graduates is just a few weeks away on February 3, 2012. For inspiration, prospective competitors can see what past winners have to say about their experiences during and after the competition, or watch on YouTube. The video features Jonathan Miller (Atlanta)*, Oscar Melendez (Los Angeles)*, Kristen Young (Phoenix)* and Brent Lewis (Denver)*.

The two culinary competitions offer budding chefs the opportunity to match their skills against others who share their passion and to earn a tuition scholarship to The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Jacksonville.

Each participating Art Institutes school will name one first place winner in each category. A second place winner will also be named in the Best Teen Chef category at each participating Art Institutes school.

The winners will earn tuition scholarships - $4,000 for the Best Teen Chef winner and $1,000 for the second place winner in the high school senior category, and $1,500 for the first place winner of the high school graduate category. In addition, all local Best Teen Chef winners will be entered into a random drawing for a national prize – a trip to New York City for a very special food experience.

To be eligible to enter the competition, entrants must submit a completed Entry & Release Form by February 3, 2012, to The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Jacksonville. Deadline for complete entries into the competition is February 24, 2012. Selected entrants will progress to Local Cook-Off Competitions at The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Jacksonville on April 21, 2012.

As the 2008 Best Teen Chef Competition winner Jonathan Miller says, “There’s really nothing to lose. At the end of the day there’s only the chance to better yourself.”
