About

About Minnesota

Minneapolis, the "city of water," and St. Paul are the two famous Twin Cities of Minnesota. Minneapolis harbors the natural beauty of parks and lakes and is a modern metropolis that supports both a vibrant artistic community and bustling business center.

The Twin Cities is an exciting place to experience and create the arts. Four major art museums, two orchestras, and regional theater offer plenty of creative inspiration. Students visit the Sculpture Garden at the Walker Art Center, Aquatennial, Winter Carnival, Renaissance Festival, and Minneapolis Museum of Arts. Broadway Productions are performed at the Hennepin Avenue Theatre District. And for music lovers, there are pop, jazz, and a rock concerts that help the Twin Cities earn the nickname "The Land of 10,000 Bands."

In nearby Bloomington is the Mall of America, the country's largest shopping complex. The mall's centerpiece, Nickelodeon Universe, is a $70 million, 7 acre indoor family theme park.

Minnesota is known for its lakes, and Minnesota has both a river and 20 lakes. More than 150 city parks are accessible for hiking, biking, and skating. In warmer months, students visit the beaches of Lake Calhoun, while in winter they enjoy ice skating, ice fishing, snowmobiling, and skiing.

Sports fans cheer on the Twins, Vikings, Timberwolves, and Lynx. And getting to the games is easy via mass transit, shuttles, and a skyway that connects more than 50 city blocks.

Companies including 3M, General Mills, Land O' Lakes, and Pillsbury call this region home.
